A REMINDER TO TRAVELLERS OF THAILAND’S SMOKING BAN

A Reminder To Travellers Of Thailand’s Smoking Ban

Smoking ban in Thailand was introduced in 2014 and it was future implemented in most indoor places including homes. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have been reminding travellers about its smoking ban in public areas and more, which aims to promote a safe, clean, and smoke-free environment for all.

The reason for the reminder by TAT was due to a few recent incidents where travellers weren’t aware of the rules and was faced with a fine or arrested on-the-spot. The smoking ban includes electronic cigarettes, shishas, or any item or equipment associated with e-cigarettes such as the ‘juice’ in the device.

It was advised that travel agents and tour operators to inform and ensure their clients are aware of the ban, especially at the airport, sports complexes, and tourist attractions nationwide. In fact, six airports operated by the Airports of Thailand were declared no smoking zones in February 2019 and closing all smoking rooms inside the terminals.
